Two phases of cell division:

Interphase:

  1. During interphase, the cell prepares itself for undergoing cell division in the M phase or mitotic phase of the cell cycle.

Mitosis:

  1. The process of cell division by which a single cell divides to form two new cells
  2. The mitosis results in two new cells with the same number and type of chromosomes as the parent cell.
  3. Mitosis is divided into four stages: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and telophase.
