Growth producing substances in living entities:

  1. The body of living organisms secretes certain chemical substances which are responsible for all living organisms.
  2. The mechanism of growth varies greatly between plants and animals.
  3. In humans, the growth hormone released by the anterior pituitary is responsible for growth.
  4. In plants, the phytohormone auxin is responsible for the elongation of the apical meristems that contribute to the growth of the plant.

Types of Growth producing substances:

  1. Protoplasmic: The living matter present inside the cell is surrounded by a plasma membrane that contains ions, proteins, cell organelles, and genetic material (DNA or RNA).
  2. Apoplasmic: This includes the non-living matter produced by cells.
