Solution

Spindle fibers:

  1. The network of filaments which are formed during cell division.
  2. They are made of tubulin proteins and RNA.
  3. They are formed during the metaphase of the M phase of the cell cycle, on the opposite poles of the cell such that chromosomes get attached to them.

Types of spindle fibers:

  1. Kinetochore fibers: Spindle fibers that stretch from one pole to the kinetochore of chromosomes are called kinetochore fibers.
  2. Interpolar fibers: Spindle fibers that stretch from one pole to the opposite pole of a cell are called kinetochore fibers.
