Transgenic crops:

  1. The crops that are genetically modified crops or their gene is manipulated to perform a specific function are known as transgenic crops.
  2. The gene is manipulated by the insertion of a foreign gene in a plasmid.
  3. Transgenic crops are disease resistant, pest or insect resistant, and also they will give a high yield.

Example:

Bt cotton: Is produced bt the insertion of Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria into the cotton plant that helps in killing the insects that attack the plant.
