Solution

Acne:

Acne is a common skin condition that happens when hair follicles under the skin become clogged.

  1. Hair follicles are tiny holes in the skin from which an individual hair grows.
  2. Acne occurs when sebaceous glands found near the surface of skin produce excess sebum.
  3. Sebum is an oily substance that lubricates hair and skin to stop drying it.
  4. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and forms a clog in the follicle.
  5. Teenage acne is formed due to increased levels of a hormone called testosterone at puberty.
  6. An increased level of testosterone stimulates the sebaceous gland to produce excess sebum.
