Solution

Saprophytic:

  1. The plants, fungi, or microorganisms which live and feed on dead and decaying organic matter are called saprophytic plants or Saprophytes.
  2. Many bacteria and fungi like mushrooms, molds, and yeast are saprophytic plants or saprophytes.
  3. Saprophytes are like parasites that lack green color and do not carry out photosynthesis.
  4. Saprophytic fungi secrete digestive juices on the dead and decaying matter and then convert it into a solution.
  5. The nutrients are then absorbed from it.
  6. Plants that use a saprophytic mode of nutrition are called saprotrophs, e.g. fungi and bacteria.
