Gastrin hormone:

  1. Hormones are the chemical messengers in the body which help in sending signals to the bloodstream and tissues.
  2. Gastrin hormone is a peptide or protein hormone synthesized and secreted by G cells which are present in the gastric antrum and duodenum.
  3. It stimulates the production of gastric acid which is important in the digestion process.
  4. This hormone also helps in the regulation of intestinal and pancreatic function, cell proliferation, and absorption.
  5. Gastrin is responsible for enhancing gastric mucosal growth, gastric motility, and secretion of hydrochloric acid into the stomach.
