Pancreas:

  1. The pancreas is an integral organ of the digestive system and it is located in the abdomen behind the stomach.
  2. It plays an important role by converting the food we eat into fuel for the body's cells.
  3. The pancreas has two main functions including the exocrine function which helps in digestion and the endocrine function which regulates blood sugar.
  4. Pancreatitis causes a serious condition that occurs when the pancreas becomes inflamed.
  5. It is an organ that produces insulin and digestive enzymes.
  6. The same enzymes that help with digestion can sometimes injure the pancreas and will cause irritation.
  7. This irritation can be short-term or long-term.

Foods that irritate the pancreas:

  1. There are certain foods that may make abdominal pain caused by pancreatitis worse.
  2. It is important to choose foods that will not make symptoms worse and may cause discomfort while recovering from pancreatitis.
  3. There are a few things you must completely avoid eating, such as alcohol and fried/greasy/high-fat foods such as creamy sauces, fast food, full-fat meat and dairy, and anything fried.
  4. These foods will cause your pancreas to release more enzymes at once than it normally would leading to an attack.
