Ovarian Follicle:

  1. Also called the Graafian follicle, this is an enlarged enclosure that envelops a cavity containing the egg.
  2. The pituitary gland is responsible for stimulating the development of ovarian follicles.
  3. It secretes the follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH), which further stimulates the growth and development of ovarian follicles.
  4. Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) is secreted by the hypothalamus which stimulates the secretion of FSH (gonadotropins) from the pituitary gland.
