What Happens To The Corpus Luteum By The Time Of Parturition?

After fertilization occurs and is followed by implantation of the blastocyst, the hormones are produced by cells of the blastocyst to extend the lifespan of the corpus luteum. It stays in an active state for close to the first two months of gestation period/pregnancy till the placental tissue has overtaken its function of producing hormones. Then, the corpus luteum of the pregnancy retrogressed turning into a scar by the event of parturition.
