What happens to the microtubules at metaphase II ?

Open in App
Solution

Metaphase II:

  1. It is the second phase of cell division that occurs during meiosis II.
  2. It is characterized by highly condensed chromosomes and centrosomes that are present in polar regions of the dividing cell.

During the metaphase II:

  1. The homologous chromosomes align at the equatorial plate.
  2. The microtubules pull the sister chromatids of homologous pairs of chromosomes back and forth until they align at the equatorial plane.
  3. The microtubules from opposite poles of the spindle attach to the homologous chromosomes.
