The chemical substances secreted from various parts of the body transfer messages to cells in different parts of the human body.
These chemical messages allow the body to regulate various cell processes such as sleep, growth, blood glucose level, sexual reproduction, and controlling stress.
Hormone that stimulates gastric emptying:
Cholecystokinin slows down the emptying of food from the stomach i.e. it delays gastric emptying.
Presence of fat in the meal stimulates cholecystokinin secretion in the duodenum.
While ghrelin (GHRL) and motilin (MLN) stimulate gastric emptying.
GHRL and MLN are produced in the mucosal layer of the stomach and upper small intestine.
GHRL and MLN stimulate appetite and regulate homeostasis.
