Corepressor:

  1. Corepressors are proteins that regulate the process of gene expression indirectly by binding to the repressor protein.
  2. In other words, corepressors are small molecules or tiny proteins which operate with the transcription factors to reduce the rate of gene transcription.
  3. Corepressor is the non-proteinaceous component of repressor.
  4. It is the end product of the reaction mediated through enzymes which is synthesized by structural genes.
