Spermatogenesis :

  1. The process of formation of mature sperm (spermatozoa) by rapid division in spermatogonia (immature male gamete)
  2. Each spermatogonium is a diploid cell that is present on the inside wall of seminiferous tubules.

Spermatocyte :

  1. The diploid cell (spermatogonium) undergoes mitotic division to form a primary spermatocyte.
  2. This primary spermatocyte undergoes first meiotic division to form a secondary spermatocyte.
  3. Secondary spermatocyte undergoes a second meiotic division to form four spermatids which transform into spermatozoa (sperms) by spermiogenesis.
