  3. Agar-agar is a product of red algae (Gelidium), which is used as a solidifying agent (a component of culture media).
  4. It is also used in cosmetics, medicines, and dentistry as a clarifying agent in the wine industry and as a thickening agent in ice creams, and pastries.
