Anisogamous reproduction:

  1. The sexually reproducing organisms in which male and female gametes are morphologically distinct is called anisogamy.
  2. In such reproduction, the male gamete is called sperm or antherozoid, and the female gamete is called ovum or egg.
  3. In this type of reproduction, the male gametes are smaller than the female gametes, or the gametes are flagellated or non-flagellated.
  4. Anisogamous reproduction is found in Fucus (algae), where the male gamete is smaller than the female gamete.
