Backcrossing:

  1. It is the crossing of a hybrid with one of its parents, or an adult genetically identical to the parent, to achieve offspring with a genetic identity closer to parents.
  2. It is generally used in horticulture, animal breeding, & gene knockout organism development.
  3. It is a cross between the F1(First progeny) individual and either of the two parents.
  4. It is generally used to improve a variety or breed by making a number of backcrosses.
  5. All backcrosses are not considered test crosses.
