Open in App
Solution

Restriction enzyme:

  1. The restriction enzyme is an endonuclease produced by the bacteria that cleaves the DNA at very specific sites.
  2. This site is known as a restriction site.
  3. The restriction enzymes recognize the short and specific nucleotide sequences in DNA known as the recognition sequences.
  4. When the restriction enzyme recognizes a DNA sequence, it also hydrolyzes the bond between adjacent nucleotides and cuts through the DNA molecule.
  5. BamHI is also a type II restriction enzyme, isolated from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens.
