Solution

ABO blood group:

  1. The ABO blood group has three alleles, which means three different form of same gene. They are A,B and O alleles.
  2. O allele is recessive to both A and B alleles.
  3. A and B alleles show co-dominance.
  4. Each person has two sets of chromosomes, only one of these allele is present on each of the two chromosomes.
  5. Thus, OO, OA, OB, AA, BB, and AB are the six combinations possible for blood groups.

Condition:

  1. Now, here both the parents are of O blood group.
  2. The recessive character show a phenotypic effect only in homozygous state. So, the progeny formed if both parents are of O blood group is O.
  3. The Rh factor can be positive in heterozygous state and also in homozygous state.
  4. So, there can be possibility of being both Rh positive and Rh negative.
  5. The blood group can be both O positive or O negative.
  6. The chances of being Rh positive is 3 times more as it also present heterozygous state.
