It is a process used to amplify or make lots of copies of a particular segment of DNA in the laboratory.

For PCR, the following things are needed:

  1. Required DNA segment.
  2. DNA polymerase enzyme (thermodynamically stable).
  3. DNA primers or oligonucleotide primers.
  4. Optimum system for the process should include a buffer system.
  5. Free nucleotide triphosphates.
