Neutral drift:

  1. The mutations keep on accumulating in the organism over time but it does not have or have a little tendency to affect the specific protein of that organism in the current environment and this is called neutral drift.
  2. These mutations may have the ability to cause adaptive changes in the future.
  3. It does not affect the reproductive ability and survival capability of an organism.
  4. For example- a change in the colour of the hair in humans.
