The death of plant tissues, particularly leaf tissue, is known as necrosis. Necrosis is caused by a lack of calcium (Ca), potassium (K), copper (Cu), and magnesium (Mg).
Necrosis is a common indication of a deficit. The critical concentration of an essential element is the concentration below which plant growth is slowed.
When the element's concentration falls below the critical level, it is considered to be deficient.
Plants have distinct morphological alterations in the limitation of any given element because each element has one or more specialized structural or functional roles in plants.
Deficiency symptoms are outwardly evident morphological changes caused by the lack or deficiency of critical mineral elements.
