Open in App
Solution

Deficiency of protein:

  1. Protein malnutrition, often known as kwashiorkor, is a disorder characterized by a severe protein deficit.
  2. Kwashiorkor is most commonly found in developing countries when the diet is low in protein and heavy in starch.
  3. It's prevalent in young children who've been weaned on a diet high in cereal grains, cassava, plantain, sweet potato, and other starchy foods.
  4. Poor intestinal absorption, prolonged drunkenness, kidney disease, infection, burns, or other trauma leading in aberrant protein loss are some of the other reasons of kwashiorkor, in addition to a protein-deficient diet.
  5. Protein deficiency is frequently linked to a lack of one or more other nutrients as well as calories.
  6. Protein deficiency can occur when calorie intake is insufficient and dietary protein consumption is insufficient for some people.
