Solution

Homo-lactic fermentation: Conversion of a molecule into similar products i.e. glucose into two lactic acid molecules.

Hetero-lactic fermentation: Conversion of a molecule into dissimilar products i.e. glucose into a lactic acid molecule, ethanol and carbon dioxide.

Homolactic fermentation

Hetero-lactic fermentation

1.It is the conversion of a glucose molecule into two lactic acid molecules.1.It is the conversion of a glucose molecule into lactic acid, ethanol and carbon dioxide.
2.It involves homofermentative bacteria, which can convert glucose into two molecules of lactate.2.It involves heterofermentative bacteria, that are able to produce less lactate and less amount ATP.
3.It is known as homo-lactic since a single product is formed at the end.3.It is known as hetero-lactic since three different products are formed at the end.
