Open in App
Solution

Rib cage:

  1. The sternum, costal cartilage, ribs, and thoracic vertebral bodies make up the rib cage.
  2. The rib cage is made up of 24 ribs (2 sets of 12), which are connected to the sternum, a large, flat bone at the center of the chest.
  3. The rib cage covers the thoracic cavity's important organs, aids in respiration, and supports the upper extremities.
  4. All ribs are linked to the thoracic vertebrae posteriorly and are numbered one to twelve.
  5. True ribs are those that articulate directly with the sternum, whereas false ribs are those that do not articulate directly.
  6. The floating ribs (eleven and twelve) are fake ribs since they are not linked to the sternum at all.
