Antipodal cells:

  1. In the mature embryo sac of flowering plants, three haploid cells are located. These cells are called the antipodal cells.
  2. These are situated at the opposite end to the micropyle and are called antipodal cells.
  3. In some plants, these cells supply nutrition to the whole gametophyte.
  4. It also takes part in the supply of nutrition during embryo formation
  5. Also, they help in signaling and provide positional information about the embryo sac.
