Habitat:

  2. It provides the condition for a species to grow, adapt, reproduce and flourish.
  3. It is the energy or nutrient-providing area for an organism.
  4. Habitat of a species describes the total of the abiotic factors to which the species is exposed in the area.
  5. Examples of habitats include deserts, ponds, oceans, mountains, freshwater lakes, grassland, forest, etc.

Habitat of animals:

Animal habitat is of two types: terrestrial habitat and aquatic habitat.

  1. Terrestrial habitat: Terrestrial habitat is found on land. Terrestrial habitats are spread across a large range of environments like caves, deserts, farms, forests, grasslands, shorelines, wetlands, etc.
  2. Aquatic habitat: Aquatic habitat includes freshwater and marine water sources on the earth.
