  2. Inferior vena cava lies posterior to the abdominal cavity and runs along the right side of the vertebral column.
  3. This vein functions by carrying deoxygenated blood from the lower and middle body back into the heart’s right atrium.
  4. Superior vena cava functions by carrying deoxygenated blood from the upper body parts to the heart's right atrium.
