Solution

Evolution: The process by which modern organisms have descended from their ancestors, with changes in their allele frequencies, is called evolution.

Many theories of evolution has been given. The latest theory of evolution is The Mutation Theory.

Mutation Theory:

  1. New species evolve by sudden and distinct heritable changes called mutations.
  2. The first individual showing a change is called a mutant. It is pure breeding and transmits its mutation to its progeny and thus gives rise to a new species.
  3. All organisms have a tendency to mutate, but the rate of mutation varies from time to time depending upon the physiological and environmental conditions.
  4. Mutations are indeterminate. It can be useful or harmful to mutants.
  5. Being indeterminate, different mutations can occur in different members of the same species producing many related new species simultaneously from the same ancestral species.
