Solution

Fallopian Tube:

  1. The fallopian tube is a part of the female reproductive system in mammals.
  2. It is the female accessory duct and is also known as oviduct.
  3. A pair of fallopian tubes connect the ovaries to the uterus.
  4. The main function of the fallopian tube is to collect the mature ovum from ovaries and provide passage to the fertilized ovum to reach the uterus for implantation.
  5. The fertilization of the ovum with sperm takes place in the ampulla region of the fallopian tube.

Lining of fallopian tube:

  1. Oviduct is lined by ciliated epithelium and its cells bear short hair-like projections called cilia, which beat and allow the movement of the particles.
  2. The fallopian tubes are lined with cilia, whose lashing allows to move the egg or the mucus in the cavity.

Briefly explain the structure and function of Ciliated Epithelium and Glandular Epithelium.
