1. Lymph is the clear fluid that travels through the lymphatic system and carries cells that help fight infections and other diseases.

Role of the lymph in maintaining blood pressure:

1. The lymph flows from the small lymph vessels into the larger lymph vessels which head towards one of the two lymphatic ducts.
2. The lymph filters via the lymph nodes as they flow all through the body.
3. The lymph nodes comprise numerous lymphocytes.
4. Foreign particles and any abnormal and damaged are discarded in the lymph nodes.
5. The lymph which exits the lymph nodes also carries lymphocytes.
6. If required, these lymphocytes can combat infections elsewhere in the body.
7. When the lymph arrives at the lymphatic ducts, it enters the bloodstream, thus draining into the large veins near your heart.
8. This discards surplus fluid from over the body which assists in maintaining blood pressure and, avoiding swelling.
