Osmosis:

  1. Osmosis is passive process and happens without any expenditure of the energy.
  2. It involves movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to the lower concentration until concentrations become equal on either side of the membrane .
  3. It occurs when water moves from a region of low-solute concentration to a region having a higher solute concentration.
