Question

Where does the major part of cytoplasm go during Spermatogenesis?

Open in App
Solution

Transfer of major part of cytoplasm during Spermatogenesis:

  1. Spermatogenesis is the process of producing sperms from the immature germ cells of males.
  2. In seminiferous tubules, it takes place inside the testes.
  3. A diploid spermatogonium grows larger during spermatogenesis to create a diploid primary spermatocyte.
  4. A considerable part of spermatid cytoplasm, made up of organelles not required by spermatozoa, is left behind before spermiation.
  5. The leftover spermatid cytoplasm is phagocytized, transported to a basal position, and degraded by Sertoli cells to generate these Regaud residual entities.
