Glucocorticoids:

  1. It belongs to the family of corticosteroids which are involved in the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats metabolism and it also has anti-inflammatory activity.
  2. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) triggers the synthesis of glucocorticoids.
  3. ACTH is secreted by the anterior pituitary gland and stimulates the adrenal gland.
  4. In response to stress, glucocorticoids are secreted from the adrenal gland.
