  3. Each level of the taxonomic hierarchy is called a rank or taxon.
  4. The smallest taxon is species and the largest taxon is kingdom.
  5. Kingdom consists of all the phyla of the living organisms.
  6. There are five kingdoms: Plant kingdom, Animal kingdom, Fungi kingdom, Protista, and Monera.
  7. All the living things belong to one of the five kingdoms.
