Solution

Semiconservative nature of DNA replication:

  1. Semiconservative nature of DNA replication was first proved by Matthew Meselson and Franklin Stahl in 1958, by their experiment in Escherichia coli.
  2. According to this scheme, the two strands of DNA would separate from each other and will act as the template for DNA replication.
  3. After the completion of the DNA replication, each new DNA will have one parental strand and one new strand.
  4. Hence, this was known as the semiconservative nature of DNA replication.
