Solution

Sponges:

  1. Sponges belong to the phylum Porifera.
  2. Sponges are primitive multicellular animals and have a cellular level of organization.
  3. Sponges have pores all over the body that provide the pathway to the water for food gathering, respiratory exchange, and removal of waste.
  4. There is no grouping and coordination of the body cells to form the tissues. Hence, organs and systems are absent. The functions of the body are carried out by cells more or less independently.
  5. Therefore, sponges are considered the simplest in multicellular organisms.
