Open in App
Solution

Seed germination:

  1. Seed germination is the process by which plants grow from a single seed.
  2. It involves imbibition, metabolic activity, and the swelling of cells.
  3. For a seed to germinate, favorable conditions need to be present.

Boiled seeds:

  1. Cell organelles that are essential for germination get destroyed when the seeds are boiled.
  2. The protein content of the cells, their bonds, and structures are disrupted.
  3. Also, boiling seeds are responsible for the destruction of the enzymes required for germination.
  4. This destroys cells, causing death.
  5. Due to this, cells neither grow nor divide.
  6. Hence, boiled seeds fail to germinate.
