Question

Why do flowers wilt?

Open in App
Solution

Flowers:

  1. The main factor due to which flowers wilt is transpiration.
  2. Many of them wilt due to scarcity of minerals, water, or both.
  3. Some of the flowers are snipped, wilt, and die away because the cutting of the stem of the flower is a shock to the plant system.
  4. These can be reversible if flowers that are devoid of water recover from wilting when more water is supplied.
  5. In response, flowers seal off the tissues of the stem to avert the loss of any further nutrients or water.
