Why is a limited amount of energy available for muscle activity?
Open in App
Solution
Muscle activity:
Muscles are soft tissues that conduct multiple functions in the body.
Three different types of muscles are present - skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle.
Muscle contractions require ATP and they contain only limited ATP content.
The ATP required for muscle activity is derived from creatine phosphate and glycogen molecules and by the process of aerobic respiration.
The muscle cells contain less number of mitochondria compared to other cells.
Due to this reason, less energy is available for muscle activity.
