Question

Why should translation and transcription be tightly controlled?

Open in App
Solution

Transcription is the method of forming an RNA copy of a gene sequence.

Translation is the method of converting the sequence of a messenger RNA molecule to a sequence of amino acids during the process of protein synthesis.

Importance of transcription and translation:

  1. Proteins are made from polymerization of amino acids and not from nucleotides.
  2. Transcription and translation are the two processes that change a sequence of nucleotides from DNA into a sequence of amino acids.
  3. This helps in building a desired protein.
  4. These two processes are very important for life to sustain.

Transcription and translation should be tightly controlled because are energetically greatly expensive processes. Consequently, they should be regulated tightly.
