  1. Virus is a sub-microscopic infectious entity causing a variety of infections in living organisms.
  2. It only replicates inside a living host.
  3. Outside the living host, it simply exists as a strand of nucleic acid either DNA or RNA.

We can say that the viruses are living as:

  1. Viruses contain the genetic material, either RNA or DNA.
  2. It shows irritability.
  3. Viruses can perform mutation.
  4. Viruses can replicate which is an important life process among living entities.
  5. They can proliferate and increase in number.
  6. They respond to chemicals, heat and radiations.
  7. They can be passed from one host to another.
  8. They have the ability to develop a resistance to antibiotics.
