Open in App
Solution

Phage therapy:

  1. It is a new version of antibacterial treatment introduced into the medical sciences.
  2. In this method, viruses are used to treat bacterial infections or diseases.
  3. Bacterial viruses such as bacteriophages are used in this therapy.
  4. Such viruses or phages only kill bacteria and do not harm human beings.

At present, phage therapy is being considered as a possible alternative to the usual antibiotic treatment. However, certain infections may require phage therapy along with the traditional antibiotics.
