Oleum is a mixture of SO3 and H2SO4
Let 0.5 g of fuming H2SO4 contains x g SO3
SO3+H2OH2SO4
x80 moles SO3 give x80 moles H2SO4
Total number of moles of
H2SO4=x80+0.5x98

Again, number of moles of H2SO4 = 12×Number of moles of NaOH
(x80+0.5x98) =12×0.4×26.71000
On solving x=0.104 g
Percentage of free SO3=0.1040.5×100=20.8 %
