Given: $0.5 x + \frac{x}{3} = 0.25 x + 7$
$\Rightarrow 0.5 x + \frac{x}{3} - 0.25 x = 7$
$\Rightarrow \frac{x}{3} + 0.25 x = 7$
$\Rightarrow \frac{x + 0.75 x}{3} = 7$
$\Rightarrow \frac{1.75 x}{3} = 7$
$\Rightarrow x = 7 \times \frac{3}{1.75}$
$∴ x = 12$
