Solution

The correct option is C Water flows from MgCl2 solution towards KCl solution
Osmotic pressure is the spontaneous movement of water across a semi-permeable membrane from an area of low solute concentration to an area of high solute concentration.

πv=iCRT ...(1)
For KCl,i=2 and MgCl2,i=3
Given

CKCl=0.6M
CMgCl2=0.07M
Put all values in equation (1), we get

πvKCl=2×0.6×RT=1.2RT
πvMgCl2=3×0.07×RT=0.21RT
It is clear that,

πvKCl>πvMgCl2
So, water flows from MgCl2 solution towards KCl solution.
