The statement, " 0 is the identity element for subtraction of rational numbers" is true.
This is because when 0 is subtracted from any rational number, the answer is the rational number itself. There is no change in the rational numbers when rational numbers are subtracted by 0.
Note: Identity element of addition and subtraction is the number which when added or subtracted to a rational number, brings no change in that rational number.
Let a be a rational number.
a - 0 = a
Hence, 0 is the identity element of subtraction for rational numbers.
