$1/3$rd of the contents of a container evaporated on the $1$st day. $3/4$th of the remaining evaporated on the second day. What part of the contents of the container is left at the end of the second day?

Suppose that contents of the container is x

On the first day $\frac{1}{3}rd$ is evaporated.

$(1-\frac{1}{3})$ of X is remaining i.e. $\frac{2x}{3}$

On the Second day $\frac{3}{4}th$ is evaporated. Hence,

$(1-\frac{3}{4})$ of $\frac{2x}{3}$ is remaining

i.e. $\frac{1}{4}\times \frac{2x}{3}=\frac{x}{6}$

Hence $\frac{1}{6}th$ of the contents of the container is remaining
