1)Friction is a force that acts to stop the movement of two touching things. The energy lost to friction is turned into sound and heat).It is not a fundamental force, like gravity or electromagnetism. Instead, scientists believe it is the result of the electromagnetic attraction between charged particles in two touching surfaces.

Friction is caused due to interlocking. Every object has some irregularities. when 2 surfaces come in contact , their irregularities go into each other and they interlock.
