1. In this figure, Identify :
(a) Male reproductive part
(b) Female reproductive part
2. Label the four whorls of flower.
3. State the function of each whorls.
1. (a) Male reproductive part - Stamen
(b) Female reproductive part - Pistil
2. The four whorls of the flower are- Sepal, petal, stamen, and pistil.
3. The function of whorls are
(a) Sepals:- The outermost green leafy structure in a flower is called a sepal. All the sepals are collectively called the calyx. Sepals protect the flower at the bud stage.
(b) Petals:- The leaf-like colored part next to the sepal is called the petal. All the petals are collectively called the corolla. The bright color and fragrance of petals attract insects that help in pollination.
(c) Stamen:- It is the male reproductive part of the flower that contains bag like top called an anther. The anther carries pollen grains that pollinate the stigma of flowers. Thus take part in reproduction
(d) Pistil (carpel):- It is the female reproductive part of the flower. Its lower broader portion is called the ovary which contains an ovule that is fertilized by pollen.
